The prestigious Dota 2 The International 2022 (TI11) tournament is undoubtedly the most important and anticipated annual event on the Dota 2 esports calendar. Best known for its record-breaking prize pool and being home to world-class performance, fans can finally look forward to purchasing tickets to attend the event.
However, amid rising inflation and slow post-pandemic global economic recovery, Dota 2's The International 2022 event might be hardly affordable for the average person. Following Valve's latest blog post, the cost to attend T11 is as much as $616; and that's before accounting for any additional expenses.
Dota 2 The International 2022 ticket prices are breaking wallets
According to Valve's latest blog post on 4th August 2022, tickets for The International 11 will be released for sale starting 13th August 2022. "All tickets will be sold in a single wave starting at 10 am SGT (2 am GMT), with a limit of 5 tickets per customer for each date," the developer said.
"Purchasers residing within Singapore will have the option for courier delivery or will-call pickup. All others must pick up their tickets at will-call only." The Dota 2 International 2022 tournament will effectively run from 8th to 30th October 2022, with the main event split into two sections.
Valve explained that the Playoffs portion, held at the Suntec Convention Center in Singapore, will run from 20th to 23rd October 2022, featuring the top sixteen teams in Dota 2 competing for a spot in the Finals. However, tickets to attend the four days of the Playoffs will be sold separately, priced at SGD 88 each (~$64).
As a result, attending every day of The International 2022 Playoffs will set Dota 2 players back SGD 352 (~$255). Of course, this price doesn't include your attendance at the Dota 2 The International 2022 Finals portion on 29th and 30th October 2022. A single ticket for the TI11 Finals, taking place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, costs SGD 495 (~$361).
This means that your total cost to attend Dota 2 The International 2022 is ~$616, excluding return airfare (~$1,200), accommodation (~$50-150 per night), travel, meals, and other miscellaneous expenses. So, for example, a single person attending the Finals will likely need to cough up at least $1,600 for two days of stay. GG Gaben.
Tickets will be sold by Ticketmaster. Valve suggests that fans intending to purchase tickets create an account ahead of time to avoid delays and disappointment.
