After being dragged by fans for not speaking up in support of Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran finally addressed the situation in 2019, saying, "I've been speaking directly to her, like I always do" (via Buzzfeed). Some fans didn't think this was good enough, considering several other friends of the "Folklore" singer had been very vocal about the situation, like Todrick Hall and Cara Delevinge. 

Those same fans still hold a grudge with Sheeran today. The singer-songwriter just released his new single, "Bad Habits," which Swift immediately praised on social media saying, "Ed has a new song out and I legitimately cannot get it out of my head! And this VIDEO!! Stream/Buy/Support/bop to it uncontrollably all summer" (via Twitter). Swifties immediately called out that she was quick to promote her friend's new music, but Sheeran never said anything when she released her two albums in 2020 — "Folklore" and "Evermore." Some even remembered when Sheeran remained quiet in 2019, saying, "not you promoting his music when he never spoke out publicly defending you" (via Twitter). 

Despite it seeming like a one-sided relationship from the fan's point of view, it seems as though Swift and Sheeran are still friends. He even said that a re-recorded version of "Everything Has Changed" has already been recorded for the "Red (Taylor's Version)" release in November (via Billboard). Sheeran even teased that Swift has "got a few surprises in store for" the fans.
