The late Marilyn Burns is another entry on the list who, really, only needed on entry to earn her spot her: Tobe Hooper's original 1974 Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Burns plays Sally Hardesty, who sees a simple road trip with her friends and brother turn into a horrible, forever life-changing nightmare. As her friends and family get picked off and gruesomely killed one by one, it's hard to imagine someone better selling the idea of sheer terror, right up until the stunning, iconic ending. This franchise has tried many times to recapture the same magic that Burns brought, but no luck yet. Another Texas Chainsaw film is currently in production—let's hope luck is on their side, because we could use a Halloween (2018)-esque revitalization.
