Celebrities love dressing up for Halloween. For some, it's a chance to embrace their inner exhibitionism and draw more attention to themselves. Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian and Heidi Klum are big fans of weird, wacky and sexually alluring costumes to celebrate the American holiday. And while Halloween isn't so big in New Zealand, we too can get into the dressing up spirit.

We can embrace our inner superhero.

Or superidiot, in the case of Ali Williams at a rugby media session circa 2008.

We are an island nation, so channelling crustaceans is always an option.

Of course, if you'd rather forego the dress-up shop for some Kiwi DIY ingenuity and look like your favourite star, this costume requires little more than a gothic frock, long curly locks and a surly expression. Just don't attempt to pull off the talent.

If you are a plus-one couple on a budget with a political bent, go no further than spectacles and red tie for Him; and swishy long dark mane and novelty big teeth for Her.
