Let's take a look at how to get all of the Pit of Heresy Dungeon armor and weapons in Destiny 2.

First Published July 29, 2023, 11:29

As the second-ever Dungeon in Destiny 2, the Pit of Heresy continues to draw players in search of high-stat rolled armor and thrilling encounters. Debuting with the Shadowkeep expansion in 2019, the Pit offers only one Dungeon-specific reward, the Premonition Pulse Rifle, while all other loot parallels the Moon's loot pool.

Despite the limited exclusive rewards, the Pit of Heresy is definitely worth the grind. Especially during weeks when it is the Featured Rotating Dungeon, you can reap a multitude of rewards as frequently as you wish. We suggest focusing on grinding the boss encounter, as it provides the same loot drop probabilities as other encounters. Now, let's delve into the loot available in the Pit of Heresy Dungeon.

Destiny 2 Pit of Heresy Dungeon Overview

Though the Pit of Heresy lacks a boss-drop Exotic weapon, an Exotic Quest for the Xenophage, an Exotic Heavy Machine Gun, is obtainable as part of the Shadowkeep expansion. Despite past issues with this quest, an updated guide released in April 2023 by Profane Gaming should streamline the process (see above).

The Pit of Heresy, similar to its predecessor, the Shattered Throne, offers limited Dungeon-specific loot across its three lootable encounters. Bungie was still in the process of defining the role and structure of Dungeons; hence, only destination rewards and the exclusive Premonition were added to the loot pool. Nevertheless, the Premonition is a worthwhile Void Pulse Rifle to consider in your spare time.

In addition, the Legendary Ship, the Bane of Tyrants, is a potential drop from the final boss of the Dungeon. This ship can technically be earned and grinded for even if Pit of Heresy is not the Weekly Featured Dungeon. But we recommend waiting for it to show up in the rotation so you can continue to earn armor and weapons, too.

Bonus: Pit of Heresy Dungeon Secret Hidden Chests

There are two chests hidden in the Pit of Heresy Dungeon. These are hidden a bit better than your typical Dungeon chests, so keep an eye out for them! The first chest is hidden under the Ogre Maze. You'll have to make your way through some winding tunnels and into the intricate cave system found within. We recommend watching this video for a visual aid on exactly where this chest is located.

The second chest is right after you've descended into the Pit. Before going off to explore and look for the Hive Symbols, make a slight detour out of the tunnel and to the right and then ascend up some of the Hive structures to find the chest waiting for a brave adventurer to come along and claim its loot.

That's it! That's everything you need to know about collecting all of the loot in the Duality Dungeon! For more on Destiny 2 and the most recent Dungeon, Ghosts of the Deep, make sure you check out the Destiny 2 Hub
