As the series depicts, Victor Stone became Cyborg when a lab explosion left both his own and his mother's bodies mangled. While his father, scientist Silas Stone was able to save him by turning him into Cyborg, his mom didn't make it—this drives his desire to be a superhero and ultimately join the Justice League.

Cyborg's powers come with his mostly rebuilt robotic body. His cybernetic enhancements saved his life after the explosion, and also gave him so pretty neat powers. He's got an infared eye, the ability to interface himself with computers around him and jack into the internet and look things up at any point, as well as the ability to fly (via rocket-powered jets). He also has a cannon blaster on his arm, super body armor, a sound amplifier/white noise cannon, and a flashlight on his arm (as you can see). He also has a system called The Grid installed, which filters out internet signals that could otherwise be distracting—one Doom Patrol episode finds him bypassing The Grid to check out his dating app prospects.
