For those who aren’t ready to go stark white or commit to an actual color, greige is the way to go. It’s not the tan-beige of the 1980s or ’90s, nor the gray of the last 20 years. Greige offers a middle ground for those looking for neutral territory.

One tip: Enliven neutral backdrops with a pop of red, orange or even turquoise. Vaz says painting the front door, mailbox or planters gives your home personality and extra curb appeal.

From sage to forest, green paint is having a moment. A small percentage of respondents to Fixr’s survey say it could work for those looking for a return to nature or some color amidst the neutrals. Give your home a facelift with these fresh, modern green exterior paint colors.

James Hardie reports its Mountain Sage is an upwardly trending color choice. Fixr’s survey reveals some interior designers believe forest green may enhance home value. In general, Vaz says people may be more willing to step away from total neutral tones on the right types of architecture.

“We’re seeing color on cute bungalows or Victorians — and we’re even seeing some more color on ranch-style homes,” Vaz says. “With the pandemic, people want to add a spark of joy into their lives and color does that to you, you know?”
