Nearly 15 years after Love and Basketball, director Gina Prince-Bythewood returns with another beautiful love story, Beyond the Lights. Superstar singer Noni (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) is struggling with the success of her career and the expectations from her overbearing mother, leading her to attempt suicide. Luckily, her life is turned around when police officer Kaz (Nate Parker) saves her both physically and mentally, allowing her to be the singer she always wanted to be.
